Summer is gone!

Just a couple of weeks ago we were still enjoing Summer ,today however it feels like winter has hit us full force and it looks like its set to stay for awhile, which is unfortunate because tomorrow is ANZAC day here and of course the morning will start with the Dawn parade services something that will not be so great in this wind and rain.
I finally got to stitch for awhile on Celtic Christmas this evening ,although I had to put it aside because DD no1 and her BF arrived to raid my cupboards and freezer as they didn't have anything to eat at thier house, actually they came on the pretense of bringing the coffee I had asked them to buy the other day for me , and left with bags of groceries as if they had actually been to the supermarket, no wonder my grocery bill hasn't gotten any less since she moved out of home lol.
Well its 11.30pm here now so I might head off to read a bit more of my current book Four Fires by Bryce Courtenay I'm really enjoying this one, I've just finished reading one of his other books Mathew Flinders Cat which I also enjoyed ,but Four Fires is funnier which is just what I'm in the mood for.

Today has been alot of fun ,this morning was spent doing odd jobs but this afternoon my neice came over with the boys and her DH and while my DDand DH took her DH and son no1 to the movies Laura and Ethan (son no2) and I went to the mall, I have to say I'm not one of those people who likes malls or window shopping as rule but I had fun buying some cute toys for Ethan and Calleum ,I also bought a really nice maturnity top for laura who is expecting baby no.3 in August .
All this shopping left little time for stitching so I've done my evening read through the blogs I keep track of and thought I,d do a quick post and maybe get a bit of stitching done while I watch CSI.
For those of you who haven't had Sunday yet relax and enjoy, for those of us with Monday on the horizon hope its a good one

Sore throats and Migraines

This morning I woke up with a sore throat and thought to myself winter is really on its way. Yesterday I started to transfer a cute design by Jenny McWhinney of two little mice ,onto some navy blue blanketing, to stitch for the new little neice or nephew that will arrive in August ,and today I think I'LL get back to stitching on Celtic Noel which I haven't touched since I decided to change the fabric I was using.
Yesterday my eldest DD had to go back to the Doctor to have her Migraine medicine changed ,its very frustrating for her as now she has basically tried everything they can give her and nothing has really helped,so the next step is for her to see a nurologist which she is now waiting for an appointment to, she has in the past been on a diet which did help but that made it almost impossible for her to eat out, and when your eighteen thats pretty difficult to stick to.
I have been trying to avoid going to my favourite embroidery shop for the last couple of weeks so that I would actually concentrate on finishing some of my current WIPs but today they rang to say some thread I'd ordered had arrived so I,ll have to take a little trip there on Monday ,what do you hink the odds are of me just buying the thread?lol enjoy the weekend whatever your doing.

It takes a village

This morning Im off to a very slow start ,yesterday my Neice left her two boys with us while her and her hubby had a day out to celerbrate his birthday, and now I know where the thought that it takes a village to raise a child comes from!! these two little guys are 4 and 2 and full of energy ,they even managed to tire my fox terrier out ,something that is pretty hard to do! Anyway we all had fun and it reminded me of when my own three kids were little ,we made playdough, went to the park, built things with lego and duplo ,but the washing is still waiting to be hung out and the house pretty much looks like a tornado has been through it ,so today will be a big cleaning day and a day to reflect on how quickly children grow and how fortunate I,ve been to enjoy it all with my kids.
On the stitching front I added a few stitches to my Quaker Sampler last night , I'm really surprised at how much I,m enjoying this,I love samplers but I,ve never stitched anything where I haven't known what the end piece will look like.
Well I guess its time to start the day and repair yesterdays damage,I really miss the fun of having little children around ,but Im also grateful for the fact that my teenagers allow me more time to myself, oh well can't wait to be a grandma the best of both worlds ,I'll get to enjoy days like yesterday and be able to send them home , when I've had enough.

Four day weekends.

Wouldn,t it be great if we could always have four day weekends ? Ive spent the last couple of days enjoying having family and friends visiting, and today we took our first offical visit to DD new flat. I also managed to get some stitching done last night on the Quaker Mystery Sampler. This morning I caught up on reading other peoples blogs and of course this lead me to collecting a few new charts, honestly I now need at least two live times just to get my favourite ones done!
At last this morning after much looking around and comparing prices I finally bought a new dryer ,my old one was nineteen years old and the bearings in the drum had finally gone ,so while it actually still dried the clothing well it had the most awfull squeaking noise, everytime I had to use it I thought my neighbours would ring and complain,so now with winter round the corner down here in NZ I,m already yah!!
Anyway its back to work tomorrow ,but that should be it for the week,an advantage of owning your own bussiness is that when its school holiday time I dont hae to go in except to the wages ,so yah for me,actualy the down side to this is that DH saves all the work till I get back or spends all day ringing me for imformation oh well ,its nice to have a change.
Hope everyone had a great break or at least pleanty of chocolate.

Who stole all the Easter Eggs!!!!

What a day ,it started with DD number 1 stopping in to pick up something for lunch on her way to work, even though her and her flat mates had been shopping the night before apparently the lunch selection at our house was better,no wonder I haven't noticed a reduction in our grocery bill since she left home!
I did manage to get some time to work on the Quaker mystery sampler ,its comming along nicely, and I finished off a little peice I found tucked away the other day into a scissor fob,so that was quite productive.
However after that things took a bad turn, normally I'm a very organised person and leave nothing to the last moment if I can help it, I had not bought either of my DD thier Easter eggs or the usual assortment we have around the house for visitors to enjoy, thankfully I had already got my DS andDH thiers and my little nephews , I arrived at the mall tonight and there were next to no Easter eggs left!!! I've never seen such a run on Easter Eggs people were just grabing anything they could lay thier hands on,so after visiting every shop that sold chocolate of any discription I did manage to scrap together all I needed thank goodness.
Now I,m going to post this, catch up with other peoples blogs and then fall ino bed.
Hope everyone has a lovely Good Friday .

Another go at this!

Well heres my second go at posting a blog,my computer could never log on to the previous one ,so I hope I have better luck this time.
I,ve been busy at work this week ,so not much time this week for stitching , but I did finish a little cushion I was making for a friend using a free Lizzie Kate design its turned out really well ,so now I'll add some Easter eggs to the package and post it off to her ,shes been having a rough time at work lattely so I hope this will cheer her up.
On other fronts my dd bought me a new cell phone this week (she uses my old one ,so I never see it) ,so everyone has had great fun watching me try a learn to use it.

I had started stitching Celtic Noel a couple of weeks ago but I wasn't happy with the fabric I had chosen ,so on Saturday I went and bought new fabric and Im about to start stitching again ,I'm feeling quite please with myself for this as usually I'd just stick with what I started with and give the project away when I finish it ,if I still didn't like it,but I really like this design and have already selected the perfect place to hang it.
Well since this is my day off I plan to get some much needed gardening done and clean the house and who knows maybe some stitching this afternoon.
